This Weekend
Coming Up In New Mexico
Saturday plans? Head to Placitas. ❤️

The Placitas Seller’s Market is back this Saturday, and if you're looking for an excuse to get out and explore, this is a good one.
Spend the morning shopping from local artists, makers and vendors while supporting the people who make our New Mexico communities so interesting.
This week's featured nonprofit is Girl Scout Troop 10634 of Placitas, giving you one more reason to stop by. 💚
Saturday, October 10 | 8 AM–1 PM
221 NM Hwy 165 | Placitas
Shop local. Meet the makers. Support New Mexico. 🌵❤️
And that's barely the beginning. We've got artisan markets, craft fairs, harvest festivals and events happening all across New Mexico this month.
Meet the Maker
Meet Molly Drury of The Freckled Camel
What can you make with a piece of paper?
If you’re Molly Drury, the answer is apparently quite a lot. ❤️
Molly is the artist behind the Freckled Camel in Placitas, where she transforms colorful and patterned papers into intricated framed artwork, origami sculptures, garlands, jewelry and other one-of-a-kind creations.
Her work combines traditional paper-folding techniques with playful design and mixed-media elements. The result is colorful, unexpected and full of personality.
And we especially love Molly’s philosophy:
“Transforming paper into unexpected art through creativity, patience, and the belief that even the simplest materials can become something beautiful.”
That’s exactly the kind of creativity we love discovering around New Mexico.

You know you're in New Mexico when...🌵

Look What We’ve Been Working On 👀
Introducing Handcrafted by Twyla
Remember Twyla Caudill, our Founding Artisan?
When Twyla joined NMAC, we talked about helping her build more than an artisan profile. We wanted to help her create a brand that better reflected her work and gave her a foundation for growing her creative business.
Meet Handcrafted by Twyla ❤️
We’ve started with a new name, a new logo and a new Facebook business page where Twyla can begin sharing her creations and building an audience around her work.
And this is only the beginning.
We’ll continue to work with Twyla on her website, social media, marketing and overall digital presence, and we’ll share some of that journey with you along the way.
Follow Handcrafted by Twyla on Facebook →
Are you a New Mexico maker who could use a little help with the business side of creating?
NMAC offers free artisan profiles, plus additional marketing and business support for makers ready to grow.
Coming Up In New Mexico
🌵 WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND?
Pick a direction. There’s probably a market. 😂
If you’re looking for an excuse to get out of the house this weekend, New Mexico is making it pretty easy.
There are artisan markets, craft fairs and local events happening around the state, including Placitas Seller’s Market, Los Ranchos Market & Craft Fair, Santa Fe Artists Market, Farmington Downtown Maker’s Market, Fall Arts & Crafts in Los Alamos, Fall Craft Fair at White Sands Mall, and more.
And yes, Balloon Fiesta is still happening, so Albuquerque has plenty going on too.🎈
Want even more ideas?
We’re continually adding markets, festivals, workshops, pop-ups, and creative events to the NMAC Events Calendar.
Whether you’re looking for something to do this weekend or planning a future road trip, check the calendar before you head out.
Events that Give Back
Two More Saturdays in Placitas
The Placitas Seller’s Market has just two markets left this season, and both give you another reason to make the drive.
Shop from local makers and vendors, enjoy a morning in Placitas, and support a local nonprofit while you’re there.
.🍂 Placitas Seller’s Market
Saturday, October 10 | 8 AM–1 PM
221 NM Hwy 165, Placitas
Featured nonprofit: Girl Scout Troop 10634 of Placitas
🎁 Placitas Open-Air Holiday Market
Saturday, October 24 | 8 AM–1 PM
221 NM Hwy 165, Placitas
Featured nonprofit: Toys for Tots
And if you joined us for Issue #1, you already know our recommendation: don't make Placitas an errand. Wander the market, talk to the makers, grab some coffee and enjoy the drive.
The Maker Minute
Don’t just post what you made. Tell us something about it.
A photo of your work is great. But give people a reason to stop scrolling.
Instead of:
“New earrings available!”
Try:
“I found this gorgeous patterned paper and immediately knew it needed to become a pair of earrings. Here's how they turned out...”
Now you've given someone a story, not just a product.
People love seeing what you make. They also love knowing the person and story behind it. ❤️
Want more simple marketing tips for your creative business?
NMAC is here to help New Mexico makers get found.
Why We’re Doing This
Local Hands. Creative Hearts. Stronger Together.
New Mexico is full of talented artists, makers and creative small businesses. The problem isn't a lack of creativity. Sometimes it's simply being found.
That's one of the reasons we created the New Mexico Artisan Collective.
We're building a place where New Mexico's artists and makers can be discovered, where local markets and creative events can reach more people, and where the rest of us can find more reasons to shop local, explore our communities and support the people creating right here at home.
For artisans, that means another place to be seen, share their work and connect with potential customers and opportunities.
For our communities, it means keeping more attention and dollars local while celebrating the people and places that give each community its character.
And for New Mexico? It means telling more of the stories that make this state unlike anywhere else.
Because when local artists and small businesses are easier to find, everybody benefits.
THIS IS WHAT CONNECTION LOOKS LIKE
We met Jim at a local market. That introduction led to another conversation, which led to another connection, and eventually to NMAC working with the Placitas Studio Tour as it prepares to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
Sometimes supporting local starts with something as simple as saying hello.
Go find something good. 🌵
Maybe it's a market you've never visited, a maker whose booth catches your eye, or a little place you normally would have driven right past.
That's really what Made & Found is about. Getting out there, looking around, meeting people and discovering more of what makes New Mexico such an interesting place to call home.
We'll keep exploring. You keep coming along.
See you next week,
Tammy, Terry & Gil
New Mexico Artisan Collective
Come along. We found some good stuff. 😉
